Liturgy & Worship

Every Sunday we gather for a Community Eucharist (church service with Bible readings, sermon reflection, Communion and singing) in our chapel from 10-11am. The pickup choir rehearses at 9:30am (no experience necessary). Join us - everyone is welcome! Nearly every week we welcome new people to our service. We look forward to welcoming you!

Ash Wednesday - Feburary 22, 2012

Ecumenical Ash Wednesday Service at the UCSB UCen Lagoon, 12-12:30pm.

Ash Wednesday Service in the St. Mike's Chapel followed by Spirituality Supper, 5:30pm.

Christmas Eve, 2011

Our Christmas Eve service will be held Saturday, December 24th at 4:30pm. Join us for an intimate celebration of Christ's birth. We'll break bread together, sing carols, reflect on the Gospel readings and gather together post-service for cider and treats. Join us!

Note: St. Michael's will not hold Christmas Day services. If you wish to attend a service on Sunday December 25th, we recommend you visit our warm, welcoming and progressive sister church in Santa Barbara -- Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street (http://www.trinitysb.org/).

Holy Week Services - Week of April 17-24, 2011

Palm Sunday (Sunday, 4/17) - Procession of the Palms, reading of the Passion Gospel and Liturgy. 10am. Chapel.

Holy/Maundy Thursday (Thursday, 4/21) - Simple "Last Supper" (soup and bread) and poetry reading (bring a poem to read!) 5-6pm followed by Holy Thursday service with footwashing (optional) 6-7p. Solemn yoga from 7-8p. Participate in any or all of these gatherings.

Good Friday (Friday, 4/22) - Our chapel is open for meditative Stations of the Cross from 11a-3p. 3-4p we will celebrate Good Friday with a simple community service.

Easter Sunday (Sunday, 4/24) - Join us for a festive Easter service at 10am followed by a chocolate Easter egg hunt (for adults too!) and light refreshments. Bring your bells to ring in the Alleluias and your flowers, potted plants and Easter eggs to decorate our altar. Our pickup choir rehearses at 9:15 so come early if you wish to sing and make a joyful song! All are welcome!!!
